WHAT ARE THESE SOLAR CAMERAS ALL ABOUT?

Our foreman, like most construction workers, have probably experienced a similar scenario at least once or twice in their careers, if not more.

You get to the job site early one morning and they couldn’t find the generator they just used the day before, or a the project is a couple of rolls short.

As you begin talking with the job site superintendent, the electricians and other tradesmen on the site, everybody realized the same thing: Thieves hit the job site overnight and made off with tools, materials and some equipment. Now everyone on the job site is faced with restocking the stolen items and trying get the project finished on time. Depending on how quickly suppliers can get hold of what’s needed, the project can certainly be delayed and could go over budget.

The Cost of Theft
While construction sites have traditionally been targets for theft, there has been a significant increase in losses from theft over the last ten years, according to the Great American Insurance Group. The insurance company noted that exact figures are difficult to come by. But reliable estimates have losses in the billions of dollars.

The Hartford insurance company puts losses of just equipment alone, which includes heavy equipment theft, between $300 million and $1 billion annually.

With that kind of information in mind, securing our job sites has become a priority for RAMCON.

Remote Security Monitoring Cameras & Accompanied Sensors
We have internally developed and have begun introducing solar powered, wireless security cameras on our job sites in efforts to prevent job site theft, and to assist in the prosecution of those found stealing from our job sites.

Our cameras feed live project images directly into our Connects system. We store all video remotely in AWS database centers.  The systems are equipped with personnel, motion and sound monitors and allow 24/7 live time access directly to the project management team.

Do I Need To Do Anything?

The cameras are designed to be entirely self sustaining, provided they are provided ample sunshine. Please make sure to keep the unit close to the working and material storage areas (where we want to monitor), face the panel South and orientate the cameras to appropriate locations.
